I currently have at least three (I think - they are hard to count) Rufous Hummers and still a few Ruby-throated females and juveniles passing through. The backyard is very busy with hummer activity. Great fun!
Rufous Hummers are definitely expanding their winter range into our area. It is only for the last two winters that I've had them in my yard and it looks like I may have them again.
Gorgeous capture! I've seen only one Rufous at my feeder. I've noticed there has been a lot of RRT females lately.

DeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, bookworm.
DeleteLovely photos! We haven't had any Rufous this fall, only Ruby-throated.
DeleteThe Rufous hummers have pretty much taken over my backyard now, although I do still have some RTHs passing through.
DeleteWonderful photos Dorothy! Our hummers seem to have all moved on now. We just get RTH's though, I've never seen a Rufous.
