There seem to be a lot spending the winter here - more than normal.

As for the cranes, well, they are juveniles born in captivity so they probably wouldn't have migrated without human help in the first place, but I take your meaning. Strange things are happening in Nature and some of them are very concerning, indeed.Dorothy Bordershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12441731296027227394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9056621443294652468.post-12900069630710321802012-02-06T21:55:24.407-06:002012-02-06T21:55:24.407-06:00I envy you your hummingbirds. I was surprised when I read that the whooping cranes are going to be transported by truck. As someone on Facebook said - whooping cranes not migrating, dolphins beaching themselves... what is going on in the world?Jaynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09993407315693699146noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9056621443294652468.post-42622168876581546932012-02-04T09:47:34.129-06:002012-02-04T09:47:34.129-06:00The woodpeckers do enjoy their peanuts, and, you&#...The woodpeckers do enjoy their peanuts, and, you're right, Rambling Wren, the Blue Jays do, too. I find that a lot of the larger birds appreciate the platform feeder.

I won't make it for the festival. We often try to plan a spring trip to see the cranes before they leave, but I'm not sure we're going to be able to this year. By all means, do go and see them if you can. They are always worth a trip.Dorothy Bordershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12441731296027227394noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9056621443294652468.post-58581141356614166052012-02-03T23:20:49.630-06:002012-02-03T23:20:49.630-06:00Love your pics of Mr. and Mrs. RB Woodpecker. I know the Blue Jays like them.

Are you going to attend the Whooping Crane Festival this year? I read there is a family of Cranes at Granger Lake (near Georgetown). I might have to go see them:)Steph@RamblingWrenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08747425786972900993noreply@blogger.com
